PEARSTON NEWS - SAPS endeavours to remove illicit drugs from the streets yielded another positive result when two suspects aged 43 and 46 were arrested for being in possession of drugs.
During the evening of Saturday, 24 July, Pearston Vispol and Cookhouse Crime Prevention members executed search warrants to residences in the Nelsig and Khanyiso locations in Pearston.
At about 21:00 the team recovered four full Mandrax tablets, 146 straws containing tik and a substantial amount of cash from a residence in Nelsig whereafter a 43- year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of drugs.
The team then executed the second search warrant at 23:45 to a residence in Khanyiso and arrested a 46-year-old suspect, also for possession of drugs after they recovered 21 full Mandrax tablets, half a Mandrax tablet, a quarter Mandrax tablet, 12 straws containing tik and a substantial amount of cash.
The estimated street value of the drugs recovered in the operation is R11 560.
The suspects will appear before the Pearston Magistrate Court soon.
Pearston Station Commander, Captain Ivan Fillis, thanked the members for the positive attitude they had shown during the operation and for the two arrests as well as the recovery of drugs.
