KAROO NEWS & VIDEO - Heavy rains overnight in the Chris Hani district, and in all the surrounding towns under the Enoch Mcgima District Municipality has left the communities in distress caused by heavy flooding.
Roads are impassable, the N6 main route through Komani was closed since 03:00 this morning, with heavy rains still pouring down.
Cobus du Pisani in the Enoch Mcgima district of Hofmeyr, measured 52mm in 35 minutes, whilst between Steynsburg and Middelburg a hail storm wrecked havoc when hail stones the size of eggs came pouring down.
The Bongola dam, with a capacity of 7 015 000 cubic metres is filled to capacity and was overflowing in the early hours of this morning. This dam is 5 km out of Komani on the route to Dordrecht. Dordrecht, and surrounding towns, could also not handle any traffic late yesterday afternoon.
This comes as all the communities in the Chris Hani area prepares for a total shut down on Wednesday to complain about service delivery.
