GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - During the weekend of Saturday 19 September, members of Graaff Reinet Operational Command Centre embarked on stop and search, vehicle checkpoints and other crime prevention duties in Graaff Reinet.
The Crime Prevention duties focused on Asherville, Santaville and Kroonvale, Graaff-Reinet.
During the operation in Santaville on Saturday, at 16:43, the first suspect was arrested with 10 full Mandrax tablets worth R300 were confiscated.
The operation led the police members to another residence in Santaville, where a second suspect (aged 28) was arrested and two tik straws and one count dagga worth R130 were found. Another 30-year-old suspect was arrested in Asherville with one mandrax tablet in his possession, valued at R 60.
On Sunday 20 September, the Operation Command Centre members focused on Kroonvale, where they arrested one man (25) found in possession of two tik straws, one mandrax tablet and one count of dagga.
Another suspect (24) was arrested in Kroonvale when he was found in possession of mandrax and dagga. A third suspect (26) was arrested in Santaville when police found the suspect with one mandrax tablet.
The Graaff-Reinet Station Commander, Colonel Andre Arends, acknowledged the successes and thanked the members for their good work. Arends mentioned the positive attitude displayed by the members towards the fight against drugs in the Graaff-Reinet area.
