HOFMEYR NEWS - The headmaster of Phakama Senior Secondary School, Hofmeyr, was very proud to announce a 68,8% pass rate as his school for 2023. This is an improvement of 2,1% from the 66,7% of 2022.
In 2023, the school garnered attention in the news due to a myriad of challenges. The school faces issues such as the lack of fencing and toilets, and no access to electricity and water.
Despite having ample capacity for 400 learners, only 102 students are currently enrolled in Grades 9 to 12.
Although there were three facilitators eventually, for most of the year the matrics had to get by with only two.
However, despite these challenges, the school’s top student, Sanele Winter, realised her dreams with a Batchelor’s pass and a B aggregate of 65,8% over seven subjects.
Four more students matriculated with Batchelor’s passes, while five did not pass at all.
