GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Local runners, joggers and walkers were treated to a much warmer parkrun on Saturday, and 59 participants pitched up for the challenging Mountain Drive route.
Visitors from Centurion, Gauteng, and Germany joined the fun, and six runners managed to smash their personal bests.
First-timer and youngster Breyton Davids (17) crossed the finish line first in the men's category, with a time of 24:40.
Annchen Wright, also a junior, was first of the women with her time of 35:45. This latest time is a personal best for Wright.
Jenna Beldon (10) was tail walker of the event. Beldon is the Mountain Drive parkrun's youngest participant, and already has 11 parkruns to her name. Ralph Scott, who participates in the 80 - 84 category, is the oldest male, and Ria Crouse (70 - 74 age group) the oldest woman.
"Well done," organisers of the event said about their participation.
The parkrun would not be possible without its volunteers. Last week it was Peter Burdett, Mike Calitz, Shirley Spencer, Charles Maasdorp, Jacqui Taylor-Freeme, Raymond van Staden, Marna Gerber, Paula van Rooyen and Kim Spencer Primic.
The parkrun gave a special thanks to Mixie Goedhals for the lovely rusks that she gave the volunteers.
