JANSENVILLE NEWS - An unemployed and single mother from Jansenville has one less thing to worry about after a fuel station in this Karoo town donated a wheelchair for her severely disabled son.
"I told myself maybe this is just a dream," said Leonie Jantjies about the donation by Caltex Noorsveld.
Her beloved son Ashwin (17) has cerebral palsy.
Leonie takes care of him full-time, as he needs 24-hour care.
The new, bigger, wheelchair came much appreciated, as Ashwin was unable to sit comfortably in his old chair after he outgrew it.
"Look at him now," Leonie said, "he is sitting comfortably in his new chair, wearing his new warm Caltex jacket with pride.
"He is even keeping his beanie on and he normally hates wearing a hat," she laughed.
Caltex Noorsveld Auto's Louis Nel, Bettie van Wyk and Andries Oelofsen were present at the handover.
"We want to thank the residents of Jansenville and all the motorists whose support made it possible for us to help this family."
