GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Sobukwe Museum and Learning Centre, situated in Hillside, uMasizakhe, has been 'under wraps' to the public since the museum set-up was completed in late 2019.
Faced with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and limited financial support the official launch was delayed and the doors are not yet open to the public.
However, the Sobukwe Museum and Learning Centre has implemented innovative creative programmes for local youth and children in 2020 and 2021.
Also under wraps for some years have been three large outdoor directional signage boards provided to the Sobukwe Trust by the Eastern Cape Province Tourism Agency – and destined for the national road (N9) as the museum is poised to open its doors to the public soon.
Two directional boards were erected by the South African National Roads Agency on the N9 but the board on the Middelburg road was stolen shortly after it was erected.
A case has been opened with the South African Police Services. Should you have any information on the theft of the sign or its whereabouts, please contact WO Williams on 049 807 6600.
