GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Dr Beyers Naude Municipality's telephone lines have been down for days causing great frustration. 

The Advertiser has been approached by companies and individuals countrywide, who urgently need registration documents and other info from the municipality. 

A senior municipal official whom we managed to reach on his mobile phone, said he believes the interruption is due to "technical problems", but did not have any details. 

Response from the Municipality
Dr Beyers Naude Municipality Acting Media Liaison Officer, Edwardine Abader, did not respond to a question about the cause of the "Out of service" message that callers hear when dialling any of the municipal numbers. 

She did however say that the lines at the various departments located in Graaff-Reinet should be working by Monday. 

"The municipality is attending to the matter. Telephone lines are expected to be restored by latest Monday 1 February 2021."
