GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The persistent clampdown on drug pedlars has again yielded results in Graaff-Reinet. Five alleged drug pedlars were arrested over the past weekend and a variety of drugs were confiscated.
On Friday 26 March at 16.30 Graaff-Reinet Operational Command Centre members arrested a 32-year-old man in possession of Tik in Umasizakhe.
On Saturday during a stop and search operation in Geluksdal between 21:00 and 23:50, Graaff-Reinet OCC arrested a 29-year-old for possession of suspected stolen property.
During the evening of the same day, members arrested two men aged 25 and 50 in Umasizakhe and Asherville for possession of Mandrax tablets and dagga plants.
On Sunday Graaff-Reinet OCC continued its operation in Kroonvale and arrested a 30-year-old man for possession of drugs.
In total six Mandrax tablets, seven dagga plants and three tik straws with an estimated street value of R665 were confiscated.
The OCC also found two abandoned silver plastic Toyota wheel caps and a black gas pistol. The suspects were expected to appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate's Court on Monday, 29 March on charges of possession of drugs and possession of stolen property.
