KAROO NEWS - A Cookhouse man (26) was arrested on Saturday for dealing drugs, but only after he was rushed to hospital to recover the drugs that he had swallowed.
According to Capt Bradley Rawlinson, spokesperson of the Graaff-Reinet SAPS, police acted on information received about the suspect and stopped and searched his vehicle at a check point on the N10. Police suspected that he had swallowed the drugs in his possession.
“He was taken to the Andries Vosloo hospital, where the doctor on duty recovered four sachets of tik and one sachet of cocaine,” said Rawlinson. The tik sachets weighed 5 grams each, and the cocaine 2.9 grams.
According to Rawlinson, the drugs are valued at R1 150. The man will appear in the Cookhouse Regional Court today (24 August).
