GRAAFF-REINET NEWS AND VIDEO - Graaff-Reinet residents under lockdown, desperate for some exercise, made use of the golden opportunity to start exercising this morning (1 May).
Under level four of lockdown, South Africans may now cycle, run or walk between 6am and 9am, within a 5 km radius of their homes, as long as they are not in groups.
The first day of this opportunity saw many joggers, cyclists and walkers on the R63, with a view of the Nqweba Dam. For most it was the first time in six weeks that they could enjoy the view. Photos were taken and some couldn't believe how much water is in the dam. The dam level is currently just under 23%.
Most of the locals said it will take a while to get back into shape again, but for now they enjoy the nature while getting fit. They laughed as they passed each other, and were happy to greet their fellow Graaff-Reinet residents again.

Even the pets enjoyed this outing and accompanied their owners. The wildlife was in ‘disbelief’ to see the humans again, and crossed the road to see the commotion.
