GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - There were 22 arrests for serious crimes made during the period from 26 February to 5 march by Graaff-Reinet police, with a further 27 arrests for the so-called minor offences.
In violent crimes, two suspects were arrested for murder, two for robbery with a weapon other than a firearm, four for assault GBH and one for common assault.
For property-related offences, there were four arrests for housebreaking and theft, one for shoplifting, and one for theft.
Two arrests were also made for contravening protection orders, and five for possession of Mandrax.
The arrests for minor offences comprised 12 for being drunk and disorderly, 10 for drinking in public, and one traffic offence. Four people were also arrested for offences contravening the National Environmental Act. This week's confiscated goods were Mandrax tablets, cash, an axe, knives, a motor vehicle, counterfeit DVDs and CDs, kitchen appliances, and a television.
