GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The popular Hike or Hobble in aid of Hospice will be taking place on Saturday, the 7th May. This event, through amazing Karoo scenery, has been described as a journey of self-discovery and determination.
An event that will forever remain in participant’s memory.
This event starts at the top of the Ouberg Pass, along the gravel road past Rietpoort farm to Nieu-Bethesda. For those who find the 50km distance too much for one day, the same distance can be enjoyed over two days, sleeping at Rietpoort, which is the half-way mark.
Participants will be transported to the start and back from Nieu-Bethesda. There are a number of pit stops along the way with delicious muffins, sandwiches and much more.
A boerewors roll and a beer or cool drink await the participants on Saturday at the end of the 50km. The two day walkers will enjoy supper on the Saturday evening and pizzas on Sunday in Nieu-Bethesda.
The full distance has an entry fee of R1 000 in the form of sponsorship for Camdeboo Hospice and includes a T-shirt, a goodie bag, the pit stops along the way and the boerewors roll or supper. Half the distance can be done on either the Saturday or the Sunday at a sponsorship of R500.
All money collected is for the Camdeboo Hospice which does so much for their patients in the community.
For more details and entry forms contact Eleanor Nel on 071 670 6000 for the 50km hikers or Yvonne Drummond on 072 565 3715 if you would like to do the distance in two days or the half distance on the Saturday or Sunday.
