KLIPPLAAT NEWS - A single vehicle was involved in a fatal accident on the Aberdeen-Klipplaat road at around 12:25 today. Saps spokesperson WO Majola Nkohli says the driver of the white VW Polo sustained minor injuries, but the passenger, his 31-year-old sister, passed away at the scene.
"It is alleged that the driver lost control over the vehicle and it overturned," says Nkohli. He also confirmed that a case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
The accident occurred at a notoriously dangerous part of the road, about 20km outside Aberdeen on the way to Klipplaat.
The specific spot is infamous for the sudden change from tarred road to gravel road. When the Advertiser visited the accident scene, break and skid marks were clearly visible where the wheels went from tar to gravel.
According to a local resident this specific road hazard has been brought under the attention of the relevant authorities on numerous occasions.
