MIDDELBURG NEWS - A 73-year-old Middelburg woman was attacked and robbed in her house on Sunday morning, 14 June.
According to police spokesperson, captain Lariane Jonker, the victim was attacked in her bedroom at her home in Bothaweg, Midros, Middelburg at about 1.30am
Jonker said the woman was confronted by an unknown assailant in her bedroom, who then threatened her with a knife and tied her hands with a piece of rope.
The suspect then took her cellphone and wristwatch and fled the scene.
Middelburg detectives have arrested a 34-year-old man, who was found shortly after, selling the phone to a foreign national.
A case of house robbery is being investigated. The suspect will appear in the Middelburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 17 June.
