GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Sarah Baartman District Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) office hosted a youth and women empowerment webinar at the Dr Beyers Naude, Koukamma, Ndlambe and local municipalities.
The objective of this webinar was to reach out to unemployed youth and women, especially those who are often subjected to rejection by potential employers due to not having the relevant qualifications or work experience.
Stakeholders involved included Business Process Enabling South Africa, Harabee, the Department of Social Development, Propella Incubator, Ican and Engeli.
The stakeholders empowered the youth and women on how to access employment, business mentorship and funding opportunities. Included in the programme was a presentation from Ican on opportunities available for people living with disabilities.
Business Process Enabling SA Eastern Cape Coordinator, Lynn Davis, said this platform is designed to create convenience for young people despite their education level, geographic location or level of work experience. This platform is designed to address such barriers."
The Department of Social Development also registered as a partner on this platform which will give them access to the profiles of the youth and women so that they can monitor their progress.
Propella Business Incubator CEO Anita Palmer and Chumani Maqina of Engeli Enterprise Development called to action the youth and women of the Sarah Baartman District to bring forward their ideas for businesses so that they can get the mentorship that will assist them in turning these ideas into profitable businesses.
