NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — Doc McClean’s second African tour, ‘Cross Bones Blues’, finds him returning to many of the places he visited on his previous ‘Zulu Skies’ adventure.
As if that tour wasn’t big enough, Cross Bones includes nearly 50 shows including performances at the Canadian High Commission, Oppikoppi and even Nieu-Bethesda!
Telling songs and singing stories, Doc McClean’s blues originate from the Mississippi delta, but before that they came from Africa, passed down from mouth to mouth. His work is more than music. It is a ‘placement of human spirit’. Doc’s mentors were the grandchildren of slaves and he keeps their gifts close to the heart, and close to the bone.
On Saturday, November 25, at ‘Die Ramstal’ Pub in Nieu-Bethesda, Doc will perform to those who have grown to know and love him. The show starts at 20:00, a hat will be passed around for donations and a cash bar is available.
