KAROO NEWS - The Protection Service Department of the Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality is working in conjunction with local SAPS and the Department of Health to enforce stringent disaster management regulations across the municipal district.
According to Acting Spokesperson, Edwardine Abader, the local Joint Operations Committee is busy preparing action plans on how these stakeholders can strengthen visibility and ensure that residents comply with Covid-19 regulations.
"Regular roadblocks will commence at entrances to our towns, with visibility and awareness in towns," Abader said. "Our Protection Service Department will also again commence with disinfecting public spaces."
Roadblocks have already been seen on both sides of Graaff-Reinet's main entry roads. SAPS teams have also been seen patrolling streets to enforce Covid-19 regulations, such as outside the Graaff-Reinet Post Office, where a long line of people can usually be seen. Patrols were also held at local taverns.
