GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Uniting Presbyterian Church of Southern Africa celebrated Heritage Day on 23 September and commemorated the richness of diverse cultures, beliefs, traditions, music, dance, and food.
A variety of foods were prepared and displayed.
Most of the attendees, primarily women, were dressed in various cultural and traditional attire. The church was adorned with wild animal skins and antique kitchen utensils.
The guest speaker, Rev Julian Pietersen, delivered a motivational speech and addressed the guests in Afrikaans, IsiXhosa and English.
He spoke about African history and heritage stories, reminding people of the rich African history, human history, and Biblical history.
The building that houses the Presbyterian Church itself evoked memories of being a meeting place for political gatherings in the 1980s. The attendees enjoyed the afternoon with music and dance.
Showing off their beautiful traditional attire are Luyanda Bokwe, Agness Marlouw and Katie Hoffman.
