GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - On Christmas Eve, a group of underprivileged children were treated to a Christmas lunch at the Graaff-Reinet police station canteen.
The event was organised by community police official Constable Ruche Adolph, who posted on the Graaff-Reinet SAPS facebook page a few weeks ago about her idea to do something special for those less fortunate.
She received great encouragement from the community, and it was decided that some of the local needy children would be the beneficiaries. Cst Adolph’s mother, Charlay Adolph, cooked chicken, and Nadia Voetpad-Adams and Annemarie le Roux, local residents who had seen the original post, brought along salads and gift bags with juice and non-perishable foods for the children to take home.
After enjoying their meal and singing some Christmas carols, the delighted children were given their gift bags to take away. They were dropped off at their homes in a police minibus, which was quite an adventure for them in itself!
Happy faces all around!
