GRAAFF-REINET NEWS AND VIDEO - The Support Centre for Land Change kicked off its annual Climate Justice Platform in Graaff-Reinet on Saturday 12 November.
This year’s Climate Justice Platform is combined with the annual Producers Platform and focuses on the impact of climate change on production and the availability of food.
It brings together more than 70 climate activists and producers from the Eastern and Western Cape to analyse the link between the fossil fuel industry, climate change, production and food; unpack constitutional rights relating to climate change, production and food; and develop strategies that will intensify mobilisation and collaboration with other civil society organisations to resist the fossil fuel industry and promote the right to production and food.
It is also aimed at highlighting the hypocrisy and exclusivity of the climate crisis negotiations at COP27.
COP27 is the 27th United Nations Climate Change conference that is being held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt from 6 to 18 November.
