ABERDEEN NEWS - During the period from 4 December to 11 December, there were three cases of note opened in Aberdeen.
A 59-year-old woman was killed in an accident on the R69 between Beaufort West and Aberdeen on 8 December. The accident happened at 07:20, about 4km from Aberdeen.
A family of nine was traveling from Cape Town to Cala when a tyre burst and the driver lost control of the Toyota Avanza, which then overturned once. The woman passed away at the scene and the other passengers were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries. A case of culpable homicide has been opened.
There were two residential burglaries, one in town and one in Lotusville.
In the Lotusville case, the complainant left her home at 20:00 on 8 December. Upon her return at 03:25 the next morning, she found that her house had been broken into. Entrance was gained by forcing open the door. The complainant's television, groceries, safe keys and handbag, all to the value of R6 900, were stolen.
The second incident took place at 11:30 on 10 December in van Riebeeck Street.
The complainant was informed that the house had been broken into by forcing open the door, and a washing machine and microwave were stolen.
The value of the stolen property is unknown at this stage.
One person was arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property. Four people were also held for being drunk and disorderly.
