NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — Moonrise over Nieu-Bethesda is generally a spectacular event, but this week it was exceptional.
The moon was 14% bigger and 30% brighter than it had been since 1948. A Supermoon occurs when the moon is closer to the earth than usual, and according to National Geographic it appears the largest it has been in 68 years.
With the moon a mere 356 508km away on Monday evening, villagers were seen photographing the spectacle in the streets and from favourite viewpoints, donkeys delighted in having their evening snacks lit up, and a few moonlight escapades took place in the usually sleepy village!
