GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — Locals and visitors alike are invited to enjoy a guided town walk through the streets of Graaff-Reinet with Beauty Dudumashe, the Graaff-Reinet Tourism Office's qualified local guide.
Two tours depart daily at 10am and 3pm respectively on all days from Mondays through to Fridays with one every Saturday at 10am.
All those who would like to join in on these walks are to meet at the Graaff-Reinet Tourism Office, situated in the Old Library Museum, on corner of Church Street and Somerset Street in Graaff-Reinet.
This walking tour of Graaff-Reinet is an excellent and highly recommended way to explore the fourth oldest town in South Africa.
The walk is approximately 1½ hours long and covers the most interesting highlights of the town including some of the over 200 National Monuments that Graaff-Reinet boasts with - the Reinet House Museum, the NG Church in the historical centre of town and the old Drostdy Building.
Other places of interest that will be visited during the tour are the Graaff-Reinet Club (with bullet holes in the bar counter) as well as a shop where you can find one of the oldest wedding anniversary cakes in the world.
The tour focuses on giving you the historical and cultural past of Graaff-Reinet and has amazing photo opportunities.
Take advantage of having a guide who will share authentic local knowledge - whether it be tips about places to visit or recommendations for restaurants - you are sure to be fascinated with the history of Graaff-Reinet.
Look out for the guide with the yellow umbrella and enjoy exploring Graaff-Reinet on foot at a nominal fee.
