ABERDEEN NEWS - An attempt was made to hold the AGM of the Aberdeen Ratepayers recently - the first open meeting since August 2015 - but unfortunately once again there was not a quorum of members present.
There was a general discussion, during which chairman Tienie Appel announced his resignation, and there was much debate concerning the future viability of the organisation due to perceived lack of interest from residents.
Comments were made that many people in the town are quick to complain when they have a problem, but those same people are not willing to join the organisation and try to help make a difference and find a solution.
It was decided that a concerted effort would be made to try to recruit new members and encourage some of the previous members to recommit to the association.
A meeting to discuss this will be held on Wednesday, June 14, at the Bowls Club, at 4pm. Any resident, whether they own or rent property in Aberdeen, who would like to join and help uplift the town is urged to attend and help support the organisation.
