ABERDEEN NEWS — This week saw more property-related crimes in all three areas of Aberdeen as well as on a local farm.
A man was threatened with a knife before his Blackberry cellphone and a small amount of cash were taken in Sithandiwe Street, Thembalesizwe. One of the two suspects is known to the victim, and an arrest is expected shortly.
An Apple i-phone belonging to a farmer was taken from his bakkie last September. A case was only opened last week, when the phone, which had been sold, was recovered. A 36-year-old farm worker was arrested and appeared in court on Monday.
A case of housebreaking and theft was opened after a hi-fi and Panasonic DVD player were stolen from a house in Meyer Street in Aberdeen town early last Wednesday evening. The owner, who had been out for a short while, discovered on his return that the front security gate had been bent open. There are no suspects at this stage.
A DVD player, Nokia cellphone, music box and cash were taken from a house in de Jager Street, Lotusville on February 5. The padlock securing the front door had been forced open to gain entry.
Also on Saturday, three men attacked a 34-year-old man at about 7pm in Vink Street, Lotusville. Money was stolen from the victim’s trouser pockets, and he was stabbed in the arm. The suspects are known and will be arrested shortly.
Sometime between 12.30pm on Friday and 11am on Saturday, someone broke into Karoo Moons in Darling Street and stole an amplifier. There are no suspects at this stage.
