ABERDEEN NEWS — There were three cases of housebreaking and theft reported to the Aberdeen police last week, and one of theft.
Last Thursday, a Blackberry Z3 cellphone, worth R2 800 was taken from a house in North Street during the early evening. The owner was at home, and one door was open. It is presumed that somebody entered the house, took the phone and then left. There are no suspects at this stage.
The first case of housebreaking occurred on Saturday, when a flat screen HiSense television was taken from a house in Chris Hani Avenue, Thembalesizwe. The owner was not at home, as he is working on a farm, but a neighbour noticed that the cardboard covering one window had been removed. The television is valued at R2 700.
On Sunday, a DVD player and speaker box was taken from a house in Rafferty Street, Lotusville, after the front door was forced open. The value of these goods was given as R2 500.
The third case, also on Sunday, was when a spiral two-plate cooker and some chicken feed, worth just over R400, were taken from a house in Stockenstroom Street in Aberdeen town. A door was also forced open in this case. All three housebreaking and theft cases are still under investigation.
There was also one case of contravention of protection order, which happened last Tuesday. A 45-year-old man was having an argument with his nephew, when his mother tried to intervene. The man hit the elderly lady, in direct contravention of the order. He was arrested and appeared in court last Thursday, but the case was postponed for further investigation.
