EASTERN CAPE NEWS - A truck carrying 22 cattle that were suspected to be stolen was stopped by police on the N2 Ngqwala extension near Viedgesville outside Mthatha on Thursday 1 February.
According to a police spokesperson, Capt Welile Matyolo, members of the District Task Team spotted the truck and stopped it.
"While documents were being verified, the owner [of the cattle], who was following the truck, immediately arrived and positively identified his own cattle that were reported stolen at Mount Frere," said Matyolo.
Police summoned the alleged owner of the truck to Mthatha Police Station where, on her arrival, they searched her Isuzu bakkie and a calf was found lying behind the front passenger seat.
The woman (53) and two other male suspects, aged 26 and 37, both from Mount Frere, were arrested on charges of possession of suspected stolen stock.
The three are due to appear in the Mthatha Magistrate's Court soon.
