GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The South African Police Services recently embarked on a 3-day vaccination drive from 21 to 24 July.
The roll-out formed part of the national drive to ensure the vaccination of front line officers and support staff.
The local Police Academy was identified as a vaccination site and included the vaccination of local police officers, management, administrative staff and other support structures like interns and reservists.
The roll-out was done in partnership with the local Department of Health.
The Government's roll-out strategy aims to reach approximately 230 000 people to be being vaccinated every day. Thousands of frontline officers in law enforcement should be prioritised as they are daily exposed to infection when executing of their duties.
According to Graaff-Reinet Cluster Communication Officer, Bradley Rawlinson, SAPS has embarked on this drive to enhance efforts to encourage everybody to get vaccinated "as it is the right thing to do," he emphasised.
The roll-out went well without any incidents reported and is paving the way for other law enforcement agencies like Traffic and Correctional services to follow suit and vaccinate their officials as the pandemic is continuing to cause havoc to the country.
