GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — Around 100 local acts took part in the auditions for Showville Season 2, hosted in Graaff-Reinet last week.
SABC2’s new reality programme Showville makes dreams a reality by bringing the glamour and glitz of television to the small, remote and often overlooked dorpies across South Africa.
On Thursday, 22 March, during the auditions at the Alex Laing Hall, hopefuls of all ages, including some well-known local singers and dancers, were keen to show what they've got.
At the end of the day, the show's hosts selected the four acts they felt would put on the best show for the town.
On day two, the coaches began their mentorship of each finalist in preparation for the “big show” in between juggling their real jobs, their families and their nerves.
Day three brought the final competition in front of a live, local audience. Here it was up to the performers' fellow citizenry - including friends, family, co-workers and neighbours - to choose the winning performer.
The winners received R10 000 and a glittering trophy signifying that they are the star of their town.
From the auditions to the coaching through to show night, SABC 2 was there to capture each memorable moment. Graaff-Reinetters can look forward to seeing it all during the TV broadcast which will soon be aired on SABC 2.
