NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — Boetie Bester’s crop of garlic has been harvested, and this gives Bethesdans and visitors to the village a perfect reason to celebrate!
Nieu-Bethesda provides the perfect conditions for garlic to grow - well drained, fertile soil, harsh winters, and hot summers. Bester has nurtured his crop for the past months and it is now ready for the tasting!
This Friday - November 4 - the Karoo Lamb will host the annual Garlic Harvest Party.The aim of the get together is for those who attend to cook up a little dish, featuring - garlic! You are encouraged to create something delicious that will feed about 12 people as a snack.
Everyone’s tantalizing treats are then pooled and a feast of gastronomic proportions ensues!
Each year a variety of interesting and original dishes are created – the evening is certainly not one to miss! An added bonus is that Boetie’s beautiful garlic will be available during the week from the Karoo Lamb.
So pop in, grab your garlic, cook up a storm, and come along any time from sundown to partake in this festive feast! Garlic will be on sale for those who can’t get enough, and there is a cash bar at the Ramstal Pub.
