GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — Graaff-Reinetters are very fortunate to live in a community rife with amazing local arts, crafts and produce.
The Somerset Street Market is celebrating this on Saturday, June 24, with a fun street fair where you can pick up beautiful, home-grown fruits and vegetables, delicious food and arts and crafts to pick and choose from.
This is a wonderful way to support local entrepreneurs and the community at large.
The Somerset Street stretch between Church Street and Bourke Street will be closed to traffic from about 9am to noon which will allow locals the opportunity to wander down the street on foot enjoying the festivities as they do so.
The event, hosted by local restauranteurs Hestie van der Mescht and André van Rensburg, will see locals set up shop throughout Somerset Street, peddling their either crafty, delicious or inventive wares.
In addition, a Youth fun walk/run - covering a distance of about 4km - will start at 10am. An entry costs R10 per person and a donation for Graaff-Reinet's children in need for the winter months.
This could be anything from clothing, blankets to non-perishable food. The race will start in front of Polka, ending there as well.
Registration commences at 9am - entrants are encouraged to come dressed according to the youth theme.
