GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — A wonderful evening’s entertainment was enjoyed by all who attended the Elvis tribute concert last Friday at the Rupert theatre in Graaff-Reinet.
Lionel Hunt performed many Elvis classics, as well as some less well-known items, and his love for Elvis and his music shone through his performance. He brought some great humour into it, which was much appreciated by the audience. Port Alfred based magician and all-around entertainer Neville Williamson was absolutely hysterical, with his most memorable item probably being a skit as a drunk man, reminiscent of the Butler James from Dinner for One.
During the short interval, wine, water, cooldrinks and chips were served to the guests, who were all eager to get back to their seats for the second half.
The event was held as a fundraiser for the DA and organised locally by Cllr Linda Botha and Caucus Leader Samantha Jankovich, aided by DA Constituency Manager Wessel Oosthuizen, Vicky Knoetze (MPL and Constituency Leader). The performers Lionel and Neville donated their services for free, and went on to do a similar show in Cradock the next evening. This was coordinated by Eastern Cape Member of Parliament and DA Provincial Fundraising Chairperson, Hon. Ross Purdon.
“Elvis” was more than willing to pose with the local ladies!
