CRADOCK NEWS - The Cradock Police are investigating two murders, after a 31-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were found brutally murdered in the area.
Their bodies were found on Sunday 6 October and Monday 7 October on two different scenes respectively.
The police withheld the names of the deceased, as their families have not yet been informed.
Spokesperson for the Cradock SAPS, Capt Lariane Jonker, said that on Sunday at approximately 8.40 am, a policeman was driving in Cross Street en route to the police station when he made the first gruesome discovery.
“He noticed a person lying next to the wall outside Goniwe's Tavern on Cross Street," Jonker told the Advertiser. "On further investigation, he found a woman with several stab wounds to her upper body.”
She was declared dead by paramedics on the scene.
On Monday at about 6.10 am, the body of the male victim was found in an open veld next to the N10. “The victim was lying face down, [and had been] badly beaten with stones," Jonker said.
Ambulance services also declared him dead on scene.
Jonker said it is unclear at this stage whether the two crimes are linked.
