GRAAFF-REINET NEWS: The Graaff-Reinet police had a busy weekend after six suspects aged between 23 and 33 were arrested for mainly drug-related offences.
According to local police spokesperson, Capt Bradley Rawlinson, the first arrest was made on Friday evening, 16 April, at approximately 20:00, when members of the Graaff-Reinet Operation Command Centre team conducted stop and search operations in Eunice Kekane Village.
“A 25-year old man was found in possession of a presumably stolen laptop valued at approximately R3 000. The suspect could not account for the laptop or give proof of ownership and was arrested for possession of suspected stolen property,” he said.
On Saturday 17 April at 21:30, the team moved to Umasizakhe where a 31-year old male was arrested after some Mandrax tablets and dagga with an estimated street value of R110 were found in his possession.
The following day two suspects aged 23 and 33 were arrested in Church Street with Mandrax and tik in their possession. A 27-year old suspect was also arrested for the possession of tik after one straw with an estimated street value of R60 was found on him and another man (29) was arrested in Kroonvale after Mandrax tablets and items allegedly used for housebreaking, were found in his possession.
All the suspects were scheduled to appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate’s Court on Monday 19 April. By the time of going to print the details surrounding their court appearances were not available yet.
